▪Rectifier is a device used to convert ac into dc by the process of rectification
▪PRINCIPLE -a diode is used as a rectifier because when it is forward biased during positive half cycle, current flows but during negative half cycle the resistance increase nd current flow is negligible. This unidirectional property of diode enable it to be used as a rectifier
▪There are two types of rectifier
1 half wave rectifier
2 full wave rectifier
▪ In half wave rectifier.,we get a have rectified wave that is only during positive half cycle when current flows through it .In this only one diode is present which when forward bias allow current to flow nd when reverse biased do not allow current to dlow through it .
▪In full wave rectifier we get a fullly rectified wave .It contains two diodes D1 and D2 .when D1 is forward biased D2 is reverse biased .hence the current flow is due to diose D1 .in next cycle D2 is forward biased nd D1 is reverse biased .hence current flows due to diode D2 .so we get a full rectified wave .......
▪the device used for full wave rectification is called full wave rectifier
▪the device used for half wave rectification is called half wave rectifier.
U can search on google for its constructions nd graphs...they are important. ....
