Most of the jute mills are located along the banks of river Hugli because:
1. Raw material- West Bengal and Orissa are one of the major jute producing states of India. The temperature, soil, and availability of water there is ideal for its growth. Hence raw material is easily available.
2. Transport- A good network of roadways and railways is present along with inexpensive waterways. This makes transport of jute very easy.
3. Labour-Cheap labour is readily available to the industries from West Bengal, Orissa, and Bihar.
