In these lines Shakespear says that even the wars shall uproot the monuments or it could stop the work of the masons,or even the God of War comes with his powerful sword or the problems faced after wars could kill his friend. His friend is in his poetry which would live more than the monuments. He would live in his poetry and he would get a place in the heart of the future generation.
