    I dont know the whole story but Iknow that when they had surat fort in their possesion,as it even was harbour for trade route, they collected taxes from the incoming and outgoing ships .But later ,when they shifted their headquatres at Bombay ,they used it as a storehouse for the case files .Please correct me if you think the information is wrong.
