Pollination is the process of transfer of pollen grains from anther and their deposition on he stigma of the flower. Pollination can be self-pollination or cross pollination.
* Self-pollination is the transfer of pollen grains from anther to the stigma of the same flower.
* Cross pollination is the deposition of pollen grains from anther of one flower to stigma of another flower of another plant.
Pollination is essential for the process of fertilisation. Fertilisation thereby results in the formation of fruits and seeds. Without pollination there wouldn't be any fruit and seed formation.
