The mean of 25 observation is 27 and each observation is decreased by 7 what will be the new mean. ?

We know mean ,
Mean = {tex}\frac{\text{Sum of given observations}}{\text{Total number of observations}}{/tex}
Mean of 25 observations = 27
Therefore, Sum of 25 observations = 27 {tex}\times{/tex} 25 = 675
If 7 is subtracted from every number, then the sum = 675 - (25 {tex}\times{/tex} 7)
{tex}= 675 - 175 = 500{/tex}
Then, new mean= {tex} \frac { 500 } { 25 } = 20{/tex}
