Let it divides it in the ratio k:1 Co ordinates of a are -4,-6 And co ordinates of b are -1,7 Co ordinates of point of division are x,0 Now by using section formula 0=k(7)+1(-6)/k+1 0=7k-6 7k=6 k=6/7 The ratio is 6:7 Value of x is x=6(-1)+7(-4)/6+7 x=-6-7/13 x=-13/13 x=-1 Hence co ordinates of point of division are (-1,0)
