a. During the colonial period, Indian farmers produced crops like Indigo, opium to cater to the World market.
b. These were the two major commercial crops of the 19th century.
c. By the end of 19th century crops like wheat, cotton , sugarcane, jute were produced to meet the needs of growing population in Europe.
d. Also to meet the industrial need of Britain as cotton served as raw material for the industries.
