Given= x=a and y=b The equation are x-y=2. equation-1 x+y=4. equation-2 Adding equation 1 form equation 2 x+y=4 x-y=2 2x=6 x=6/2 x=3 Substitute the value of x in eq 2 x+y=4 3+y=4 y=4-3 y=1

x = a , y = b

x - y = 2
a - b = 2....... (i)
x + y = 4
a + b = 4 ....... (ii)
Add (i) and (ii)
2a = 6
a = 6/2 = 3
But a = 3 in (ii)
3 + b = 4
b= 4 - 3
b = 1
So, a = 3 and b = 1
