Western part of western ghat receive more rainfall than eastern ghat because western ghat is a continuous chain of high hills , due to this the moisture carrying wind arises from Arabian sea is not able to move in eastward direction of western ghat (due to high hills )and that area(western part of western ghat)receives heavy rainfall. Against it , eastern ghat is a discontinuous chain of low hills , due to this the moisture carrying wind arises from Bay Of Bengal move forward(in westward direction of eastern ghat) and that area(area of eastern ghat )receives low rainfall than (area of) western ghat.
