It will give an bitter taste as baking soda is a basic salt in nature and to convert baking soda into baking powder tartaric acid is added to it for neutralizing it.

The baking soda make cake very hard and bad taste because it not for making cake.the cake was very hard not norma 2 if we add tartaric or citric acid to baking soda it converted into baking powder 3 the role of tartaric acid added to baking soda is to convert its into bakimg powder If answer is wrong then sorry
