The main differences between settled and shifting agriculture are the following: Settled agriculture: 1. Settled agriculture is practiced on a small or big portion of land.   2. In this type of land farmer uses fertilizer to reacquire the fertility of the soil. Shifting agriculture: 1. In the shifting cultivation, the piece of land is used for a few years and is then left unplowed for 10 to 12 years. 2. In this type of farming, a clearing is made in the forest. Once the trees are cut down they were burnt to provide ashes, after this the general process of farming was implemented.
