Entropy is a measure of degree of randomness of a system. Thus, if entropy increases the randomness also increases. The process which are generally accompanied by increases in entropy are generally called spontaneous or entropy driving reactions.
A reaction takes place spontaneously if ∆G < 0.
Now, ∆G=∆H-T∆S.
If change in entropy ∆S is positive and large enough to make ∆G < 0 (when ∆H > 0), then the reaction proceeds in forward direction just because of positive entropy change and then the reaction is called entropy-driven reaction.
