Cyclohexane has formula C6H12.It is an alkane.General formula for alkane is CnH2n+2.So putting n=6 then C6H2*6+2=C6H14.So why it is an alkane although it does not fulfill the general formula.???????

Because in representing alkane in a cyclic structure(cycloalkane) it has to reduce 2 hydrogen from each side. So,for becoming cyclohexane ,hexane(C6H14) has reduced two of its hydrogen atoms from each side. Hope it will help you???
