Jizya tax was levied on non muslims living under the muslim ruler. The Mughals used to levy the tax as mandated by the Holy Quran and the Hadiths.
Jajiya was imposed by Muslim rulers on non Muslims ,It was not uniformly applied throughout mughal rule as Akbar abandoned it and after that Aurangzeb reimpose it,now some people argue that zakaat was the tax for Muslims and jajiya for non Muslims so what the problem with it,zakaat paid by the Muslims used only for the Muslims welfare under 8 rules of zakaat ,but on the other hand zajia was imposed at a higher rate and taken as gov tax and this tax also mainly used for the welfare of Muslims under aurengzeb rule ,so now you can compare how bad the taxation system is for non believers
