Since the net upward force must be equal to the net downward force. So, buoyant force = mg=50x9.8=49kgf

Can you see the answer again. Is it 49kg f?

Saba Elias 7 years ago

Sorry sis but in the book it is given the option with the answer 49N is right but there is no solution here

Ayushi Ayushi 7 years ago

Mass of body = 50kg volume = 0.049 m^3 Since the density of body is more than density of water, it will sink. When it sinks, it will displace equal volume of water. So volume of water displaced = 0.049 m^3 mass of water = density × volume = 1000×0.049 = 49kg buoyancy = weight of water displaced => buoyancy= mg => buoyancy= 49×10 = 490N Hence, buoyant force is 490N

Ayushi Ayushi 7 years ago

The buoyant force is 490 N.
