There were a variety of cultural processes through which the Indian nationalist movement sought to capture people's imagination. These were:
.India was depicted as a goddess in popular art to create a sense of devotion among the people.
.Bankim Chandra Chattopadhay created the image of "Bharat Mata" and composed the "Vande Mataram" which later became the National Song. .
.Indian folklore was used to promote the feeling of nationalism. .
.The National Flag was designed through which people could identify with the nation.
.Reinterpretation of Indian history was another such means. By highlighting the historical achievements of Indians, nationalists sought to instil a feeling of pride for their country amongst the people.
