Minerals generally occur in the following forms:
a. They occur in the veins and the lodes in ingenious and metamorphic rocks. For example, Major metallic minerals like tin, copper, zinc and lead etc. are obtained from veins and lodes.
b. Minerals occur in bed or layers in sedimentary rocks. Coal and some form of iron are found in it.
c. Bauxite is formed in the decomposed surface rocks.
d. Minerals not corroded by water are found in alluvial deposits. Example, gold, silver, tin and platinum.
e.The ocean water contains vast quantities of minerals. For example, common salt, magnesium and bromine.
f. The ocean beds are also rich in manganese nodules
