Bay of Bengal branch of Southwest monsoon moves towards East carrying much moisture. As they move further towards west they carry less moisture content with themselves result in decreasing in rainfall in West.

Both eastern and western parts of northern india recieve rainfall from bay of bengal branch as the bay of bengal reaches the eastern parts first so the eastern parts recieve more rainfall as compared to the western parts

The winds which cause rainfall enter india in the south then they Move towards rest part of india . The time these winds reach western part of india , they lose their moisture and cause very less rainfall Thus the rainfall decreases from east to west in the. Northern plains of india.
