COPRA stands for Consumer Protection Act which was applied on 1986 to protect consumers from fake market price, expiry dates and to aware consumers about importance of consumers rights... The features ofCOPRAare- 1. It was a major step enacted by the government in 1986. It stands for-COnsumersPRotectionAct. 2. Under the COPRA, athree tier quasi-judicial machinerywas set up atdistrict level, state level and national levelfor the redressal of consumer disputes. 3. The district level court looks into cases involving claims upto Rs.20 lakhs, the state level courts looks into cases involving claims between Rs 20 lakhs and Rs 1 crore and the national level courts look into cases involving claims more than Rs 1 crore.

Consumer protection act 1986 is one of the most important legal measures to protect the rights of consumers in this a three tier quasi judicial machinery at the district state and national levels was set up for redressal of consumer disputes
