Gaurav Seth 7 years ago

Pull factors are factors that attract a migrant to a new area. Examples include economic opportunities, social factors like greater religious tolerance and evironmental factors like greater soil fertility, availability of water etc.

Push factors are factors that persuade a prospective migrant to leave his or her present area of residence. They tend to be the opposite of pull factors. Examples include lack of economic opprtunities, social and religious persecution and environmental factors like flood, drought, earthquakes etc.
