Amnesty International is an international non-government establishment working for the protection of human rights.

All the information collected by them regarding the prisoners of the Guantanamo Bay were as listed below:

The prisoners were tortured in violation of the US laws.
The prisoners protested against their unjust treatment by going on hunger strike.
The prisoners were not freed even after being proved innocent.
They were not offered the treatment that even prisoners of war had to get as per international treaties.

This information drew people’s attention towards it, which made UN to set up an independent inquiry that supported the findings.
