Why h2s is acidic while h2o is neutral
  • 2 answers
Due to H-bonding in H2O and size of O is small than S, bond dissociation energy is high in H2O

Rupali Agrawal 7 years ago

In H2O O make hydrogen bond with other molecules of H2O due to which molecules associate together and oxygen do not release H+ ion easily and oxygen have small size so the bond strength is high this is also the reason for oxygen to not release H+ ion, But in H2S bond strength is weak due to which it releases H+ ion and show acidic nature and H2O does not show acidic nature
