When rowaltt satyagraha started on 6 april 1919 ....several hartals and protests took place across the subcontinent ...britishers in reply imposed a curfew...in amritsar general dyer was in command....on 13 april 1919 hundreds of people gathered in a garden called JALLIANWALA BAGH ...few gathered in protest but most of them were from villages and did not knew about curfew ....Dyer closed the only gate of bagh and commanded his sepoys to fire...hundreds of citizens were killed and many of them were wounded ...this was the jallianwala bagh incident after this MK GANDHI CALLED OFF THE MOVEMENT ACROSS THE COUNTRY
