    When nickel is heated with carbon monoxide it forms a volatile complex nickel tetracarbonyl which on further heating at higher temperature decomposes to give pure nickle. Ni+4CO330−350k−→Ni(CO)4450−470k−→−−−−−−−Ni+4CO
