Difference between characteristic and a trait is like the difference between a broader category and that of a specific specific description.
*Characteristic is a distinguishing quality that is recognisable and helps in identification, description and distinguishing. Trait is a particular quality of a characteristic that is present in an individual.
*An example of character is eye colour whereas an example of trait is blue colour.
*Group of traits makes a character of an individual.
