In adsorption the concentration of the adsorbate increase only at the surface of the adsorbate ,while in adsorption the concentration is uniform throughout the bulk of the solid. Can anyone explain this ???

    This is because adsorption is a surface phenomenon whereas absorption occurs with the whole body. Its like the difference between dipping chalk in water and soaking a sponge in water.
