Food security os needed in a country to ensure safe, sufficient and nutritious food at all times.

During a disaster, say drought, the production of food grain is reduced
Due to this a shortage of food is created
As result food prices increase and at high prices some people can't afford to buy food
Thus food security is affected during a disaster.

Ans. Food security is needed in a country to ensure food at all times so that famine like situation does not arise in a country.

Food security is affected during a calamity because it hinders the accessibility and affordability.Accesibility means food is within reach of every person and affordability implies that an individual has enough money to buy sufficient, safe and nutritious food to meet one 's dietary needs.
