Because alcohol completely ionise in acidic medium to form H positive ions

In phenol resonance happens due to which there is delocalisation of electron but in alcohol resonance does not occur........

in alchohol, carbon is sp3 hybridised but in phenol, carbon is sp2 hybridised ie partial double bond character due to resonance. so OH not easily diaplaced from phenols
