P(x,-1),Q(2,1),R(4,5) are collinear From P (x,-1) and Q (2,1) m1(PQ) =y2 -y1/x2-x1 =1-(-1)/2-x =1+1/2-x =2/2-x. ...................(1) From Q(2,1) and R(4,5) m2(QR)=y2-y1/x2-x1 =5-1/4-2 =4/2 =2. ...........................(2) Equating eq1 and eq2 2/2-x=2 By cross multiplication 2 =2(2-x) 2=4-2x 2x=4-2 2x=2 x=1 Hence find the value of x =1
