Lagoons are shallow bodies of water which got seperated from a larger body of water by some barrier or reefs. Lagoons are often called estuaries, sounds, bays, or even lakes. Lagoons can be divided into two main kinds: coastal lagoons (mostly found on land margins) and coral reefs lagoon (occur in ocean areas).
