According to law, following activities are banned during election campaign:

Threatening or bribing the voters.
Asking for votes in the name of religion or caste.
Use of government resources in election campaign.
Spending more than Rs. 25 lakh in a Lok Sabha constituency and more than Rs. 10 lakh in an assembly constituency.
