Diamagnetic substances -these are the substances which when placed in a strong magnetic field acquire a feeble magnetism oppposite to the direction of magnetic field.
e.g-copper,gold,alcohol,water,hydrogen.
Paramagnetic substances-they acquire feeble magnetism in the same direction of applied magnetuc field.e.g.platinum, aluminium, air.
Ferromagnetic substances-they are strongly magnetised by relatively weak magnetising field in the same sense as the magnetusing field.e.g-Co,Ni,iron,and their alloys.
