    Turkey was under Ottoman Empire . the ruler of Turkey was called Khalifa .he was the spiritual leader of Muslim All Around . Britain defeated Turkey in world war. Britain remove the existing Khalifa and appointed the new Khalifa in his place. it caused the widespread anger among the Muslim all around the world. in India also Muslims started protesting against the British forming khalifat committee under the leadership of Muhammad Ali and Shaukat Ali .Gandhiji saw this as a golden opportunity to bring all Muslim under the unified umbrella of struggle against British .Gandhiji convinced all Congress leader to support Khalifat moment in support of Swaraj.

    • It was a movement started by the Ali brothers, Shaukat Ali and Mohammad Ali.
    • It was started to show their allegiance to the spiritual head of the Ottoman Empire, Khalifa.
    • To save Khalifa, who was deposed by the British after the World War I, a Khilafat Committee was formed in India.

    Positive Impact of Khilafat movement:

    1. It units the Hindus and Muslims and realise them what they were and what they will, if they follow the British rule.
    2. It makes the unity strongs.

    Negative Impact of Khilafat movement:

    1. IT makes them to burn all the things.
