Food security is a condition related to the supply of food, and individuals' access to it. Attaining food security is a matter of prime importance for India where more than a third of its population is estimated to be absolutely poor, and as many as one half of its children have suffered from malnourishment over the last three decades. National Food Security is critically dependent on the adequate availability of sufficient food stocks to fully satisfy domestic demand at all times.
