24 karat gold is not used in making jewelry or wearing ornaments because it is very smooth and it can react with The gases present in our environment because it has no stability as you know stability is inversely proportional to reactivity so it is less stable it can react with the environment but 22 karat gold is not that much of reactive as it is more stable than 24 carat so that is used for or ornaments

Because 24 carat gold is in pure form and it is too soft in nature so that 's why it is not used to make jewellery but 22 carat gold is hard and can be set according to our design that is in making jewellery
