Ethanoyl chloride is the formal IUPAC name - more commonly known as acetyl chloride. Halide derivative of acetic acid that readily hydrolyses back to HCl and CH3COOH in air - as such it’s doesn’t exist in nature and has to be synthesised in the lab for use as a chemical precursor to esters and amides of acetic acid.
