Atomic number is considered to be a more appropriate parameter than atomic mass while classifying elements as we can remove various anomalies such as the position of hydrogen, wrong order of atomic masses, and the position of isotopes.

Atomic no. is the parameter of classification of elements than atomic mass as it increases uniformly by one as we move from one element to the next .But this is not the case of atomic mass.
