Let total no. of students be x. Set of students passed in Maths be A. Set of students passed in Science be B. n(A)=80x/100 , n(B)=72x/100 , n(A intersection B)=312 => n(A union B) = n(A) + n(B) - n(A intersection B) = 80x/100 + 72x/100 - 312 = (152x - 31200)/100. ATQ=> n(U) - n(A union B) = 13x/100 => x - (152x - 31200)/100 = 13x/100 => 100x = 165x - 31200 => 65x = 31200 => x = 480
