Water in the water bodies i.e.in oceans or seas takes longer to heat or cool down as compared to the land .So we see that the range of temperature (difference between the maximum and the minimum temperatures)is very less. Thus, the coastal areas experience moderate climate because temperatures do not rise very high or fall down too much due to the moderating effect of water in the water bodies.
