It was started by Mahatama Gandhi and in less wods we can say that it was the last and most powerful movement started by india where each and every section of india took active part and give full support to British government With taking out salt from dandi in huge number gave the straight message to britishers..... Later Lord Irwin promised to fulfill the demands of Mahatama but he later refuse about demands so Mahatama Gandhi again restarted the movement
