What is the basic difference between delegation and decentralisation as in how do we recognize it when given in a case study??

for e.g-the CEO of the company delegates some authority to a divisonal manager it is delegation of authority but if the divisonal  manager delegates it further to its subordinates it is decentralisation.

It will also be called decentralisation  when CEO delegates  its authority to all divisonal heads bcz he is able to decentralise  at one level

If the power is given upto only one level then it is a delegation of authority and if it is multiplied by multiple then it is decentralisation. It is also possible that the companyis able to decentralise at one level but not at the other level,this will also be called decentralisation
