Lichens are symbiotic association between algea and fungi. The algal part is called Phycobiont and the fungal part are called Mycobiont. They are good pollution indicator as they do not grow in polluted area.
Phycobiont refers to the algal component of the lichens and mycobiont refers to the fungal component.
