the change in the direction of light rays when it travel from one medium to another we say that REFRACTION takes place.

when the first medium is air we refr to it as ABSOLUTE REFRACTIVE INDEX

When it is any othr 2 medims we refer to it as RELATIVE REFRACTIVE INDEX

REFRACTION:-The change in path of a ray as it passes from one medium to another is called refraction.

OR

When light enters from one medium into another ,we say refraction takes place.
