1)In 2014 India was the second largest producer of fruits and vegetables. India grows both tropical and temperate fruits Mangoes of Maharashtra, Andhrapradesh ,Telangana,Uttar Pradesh, oranges of Nagpur and Meghalaya,bananas of Kerela,Mizoram, Maharashtra, litchi and guava of Uttar Pradesh and Bihar, Pineapples of Meghalaya,grapes of Andhra Pradesh,Telangana and Maharashtra, apples,pears,apricots and walnuts of Jammu and Kashmir and Himachal Pradesh are in great demand all over the world.
India is an important producer of pea, cauliflower, onion,cabbage,tomato,brinjal and potato.
2)Contribution of agriculture in Indian economy: Agriculture has been the backbone of the Indian economy. Though its share in GrossDomestic Product has registered a declining trend.Considering the importance of agriculture in India, the government of India made concerted efforts to modernise agriculture. The growth rate in agriculture has been decelerating which is an alarming situation.
