=> let speed of train be x & speed of taxi be y Time taken to cover 300km=300/x Time taken to cover 200km=200/y A/Q 300/x + 200/y =11/2 Let 1/x=4 & 1/y=v 300u+200v=11/2 2(300u+200v)=11 600u+400v=11 ---------------- eq.1 260/x +240/y =28/5 260u+ 240v=28/5 5(260u+240v)=28 1300u +1200v =28 -------------------- eq.2 Multiply eq.1 by 3 & eq.2 by 1 we get, 1800u+1200v =33 ---------------------eq.3 1300u+1200v =28----------------------eq.4 Sub. Eq.3 & 4 1800u+1200v-1300u-1200v=33-28 500u=5 u=5/500 U=1/100 Putting the value of u in eq.1 600x1/100+400v=11 6+400v=11 400v=11-6 400 =5 V=5/400 V=1/80 Therefore 1/x =u 1/x=1/100 X=100 1/y=v 1/y=1/80 Y=80 Speed of train =100km/h Speed of taxi=80 km/h ANS....
