MGNREGA stands for Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act. This act was enacted in August 2005 and was notified on 7 august 2005 .It provides a legal guarantee for 100 days assured employment in every financial year.If the government is not able to do so then it provides a land to that person for cultivation to earn livelihood.In the first phase the act was notified in 200 districts.under this act wages are paid according to minimum wages act 1948 .It should not be less than Rs.60.
