    Let the two numbers be x and y According to first condition : X +Y =15 ------eq.1 According to second condition: 1/X +1/Y = 3/10-------eq.2(Cuz its said that their reciprocal.....) Now multiply eq.2 by *3*(so that we can get rid of the denominator 3 in left hand side) Thus we get :3x +3y =10-----eq.3 Now taking eq.3 Transposing values to get value of X,we get X= 10-3y/3 Put X =10-3y/3 in any appropriate eq. and get your answer Note : i used substitution method You can use elimination method and cross multiplication method too...
