 Reserved forest  Protected forest
Forests having commercially valuable timber, like deodar or sal were classified as 'Reserved' forests. In these forests some customary grazing rights of pastoralists were granted but their movements were severely restricted.
Pastoralists were not allowed to move in these forests. These were inaccessible to the pastoralists. Pastoralists were allowed to move in these forests but they had to take permission from the government.
