Let x be 0.9999 Therefore 10x =9.999 Mow subtract x from both the sides 10x-x = 9.999-0.9999 9x = 9 x = 9/9 I.

Let x = 0.99999999 ....1 Since the repeating block has only one digit 9 , we multiply x by 10 to get 10x = 9.999999 ....2 Subtracting 1 from 2 we get 9x = 9 x = 9/9 x = 1 Hence 0.99999 = 1
